PORT Adelaide star Chad Wingard could miss up to a month with a high ankle sprain.
“Chad had scans on Monday, which confirmed a high ankle sprain, so he’ll miss somewhere between two and four weeks in rehab," Port Adelaide's head physiotherapist Tim McGrath said.
“We’ll take a no-risk approach with his injury, so will assess him week-to-week before he starts running again.”
Wingard will definitely miss the round 19 clash with St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, as well as the massive round 20 Showdown with cross-town rivals Adelaide.
He's also in doubt for games against Collingwood on Sunday, August 13 and the Western Bulldogs on Saturday, August 19.
It potentially could leave him with just the round 23 clash against Gold Coast to regain his match fitness ahead of the finals.
Wingard injured his ankle in the third quarter of the Power's 23-point loss to Melbourne at the MCG last weekend.
A two-time All Australian as a creative forward, Wingard has been in outstanding form for the Power this year since moving to the midfield.
He's averaging 22 possessions per game, while also booting 19 goals for the season.
Scans came back with a high ankle sprain, most likely miss 2 games! Grateful it wasn't worse, will do my best to get back out there soon
