STAR forward Jeremy Cameron has been ruled out of this Sunday's clash with Richmond as he continues to battle hamstring soreness.
Cameron was a late withdrawal from the Giants' 13-point loss to Sydney last week, and has been unable to train with the main group in the lead-up to the match against the Tigers at the MCG.
Coach Leon Cameron said he was hopeful that the club's five-time leading goalkicker would be fit to take on Fremantle at Spotless Stadium in round 19.
"He's progressed with his rehab running but he's still tight and it's too much a risk (to play him)," he said.
"We've scanned it and his hammy actually looks pretty good, but he can't get to full pace.
"At this time of year the risk is, if he does it, that it could be a 4-6 week hamstring (injury).
"As much as it is obviously a huge game for us against the Tigers, we're not taking any unfit men into the game."
Utility Sam Reid is also no chance to face the Tigers, with his injured left ankle in a moon boot at training on Thursday.
There was better news for the Giants with vice-captain Stephen Coniglio and Matt de Boer cleared to play this weekend.
Tough onballer de Boer was concussed in the opening quarter after copping an accidental elbow against the Swans. He took no further part in the game but has passed all of his concussion tests this week.
Coniglio hasn't played since he suffered his second serious ankle injury against Collingwood in round eight, but he's recovered well from surgery and trained strongly on Thursday.
Cameron said the match committee would consider Coniglio for Sunday's game, despite the West Australian managing just two games this season.
"It's a huge ask, but he is our vice-captain. He's the spirit of our footy side, so we'll see how he pulls up," he said.
"He'll try and belt my door down which is what you want from your leaders, the tough decision we've got to make is that we come up against a really tough side in Richmond.
"We know we need to go the distance to be competitive with them."
Former Tiger Brett Deledio moved well during Thursday's main session as he continues to work his way towards taking the field for the first time this season, after battling persistent calf problems.
Deledio is likely to have another full week on the track and, if he can get through that unscathed, will look at getting some managed game time in the NEAFL in the next fortnight.
