ADELAIDE defender Kyle Cheney has had another setback in his return to the senior side, with a hamstring injury ruling him out of this weekend's SANFL trial.
Cheney trained with the Crows at Adelaide Oval on Thursday, but pulled up with a sore hamstring.
He will be assessed further in the next few days.
It's another blow for the 27-year-old, who had his pre-season disrupted recovering from a lingering groin injury he carried through the end of last year.
Cheney missed the entire JLT Community Series before making his return in a SANFL trial two weeks ago – the same day that the Crows played Brisbane Lions in their final pre-season match.
Cheney played all 24 games for the Crows last season – the first time he has played more than 12 games in a season in his eight years in the League.
He had stints with Melbourne and Hawthorn before joining the Crows in 2015.
Midfielder Scott Thompson (shoulder) and young defender Jake Lever (hamstring) will play their first game of the year in the Crows' SANFL clash with Woodville-West Torrens at Football Park on Saturday.
