FORMER Sydney co-captains Jarrad McVeigh and Kieren Jack will both be missing when the Swans take on St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
McVeigh suffered a hamstring injury in his team's dominant win over North Melbourne on Sunday, which was just his second game of the season after he battled calf injuries during the pre-season.
The veteran played out the match against the Kangaroos and kicked two vital goals, but Swans football manager Tom Harley said McVeigh had been ruled out of the Saints clash.
"Scans have revealed a low-grade hamstring strain so it was a really brave effort by Jarrad to not only play on, but contribute with a couple of goals," he said.
"He won’t play this week and we will assess him as he goes through the week as to whether he plays against Hawthorn the weekend after."
The Swans were hoping Jack could be a chance to return for his first game since round five, but he'll need at least one more week of training to overcome a hip injury.
"It was always going to take a bit of time to get the strength work for Kieren, so it is certainly progressing and heading in the right direction," Harley said.
In better news for last year's Grand Finalists, All-Australian defender Dane Rampe could make his long-awaited return to take on St Kilda if he can get through training this week.
Rampe broke his arm in a freak accident in the lead up to the Swans' round two clash against the Western Bulldogs, when he tripped over a chain outside the SCG while doing some recovery running.
