PORT Adelaide's forward line is set to receive a major boost, with key target Charlie Dixon returning to full training this week after off-season ankle surgery.
The former Gold Coast spearhead is on track to have a limited role in the Power's intra-club game at Alberton Oval on Friday, February 17.
He will then play some part in the club's JLT Community Series campaign, but will continue to be carefully managed to guarantee he is ready for the round one clash with grand finalists Sydney at the SCG.
Dixon underwent ankle surgery in November last year after he missed several games last season.
He is extremely crucial to the Power's forward set-up, booting 30 goals in 18 games in his first season with the Power last year after being traded from the Suns at the end of 2015.
Veteran Angus Monfries will be sidelined for the Power's intra-club game while he continues to recover from shoulder injury.
The 30-year-old missed all of last season serving a 12-month anti-doping suspension as part of the Essendon supplements saga.
Fellow mid-sized forward Jesse Palmer will also be unavailable for the intra-club game with groin soreness.
Second-year ruckman Dougal Howard is slightly ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn ACL, with a return likely to be early in the season through the SANFL.
AFL and club access members will have free general admission entry to JLT Community Series matches in which their club is competing (subject to availability, upgrade fees may be applicable). Click here to learn more.
