CARLTON goalsneak Matthew Wright has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
The 27-year-old South Australian has been a valued acquisition for the Blues since arriving from the Crows for the 2016 season, kicking a club-best 22 goals last year and slotting 17 so far this season.
Wright, who has kicked 102 goals from 129 games, said he was grateful the club had shown confidence in him so he could continue his AFL career into a ninth season.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to sign on for another year with the club. It's nice to be able to lock that away now and focus on a really strong back half of the season with my teammates," Wright told the club's website.
Carlton football boss Andrew McKay said the Blues were pleased to secure the services of the hard-working forward for another season.
"Matthew has been a great addition to our football club since he arrived at the end of 2015. He has a strong leadership presence up forward and contributes significantly to the scoreboard." McKay said.
"Off-field he is a highly respected member of the playing group. Matthew's professionalism and the manner in which he goes about it sets a great example for our developing list.
"We're really pleased to see him continue at the Blues in 2018."
