AFTER months of speculation about his future at Greater Western Sydney, Wayne Campbell has parted ways with the club just weeks after its maiden Grand Final appearance.

Campbell, who was the Giants' footy boss for the past four seasons and has a contract for 2020, has been replaced by the club's list manager Jason McCartney.

It was reported during the year that Campbell had a strained relationship with some senior Giants players, but the rumours were strongly denied by vice-captain Stephen Coniglio just hours after he re-signed with the Giants in August

Jason McCartney has taken over from Wayne Campbell.

Coniglio, Josh Kelly, Nick Haynes and a host of other GWS stars re-committed to the club during Campbell's reign in Sydney, despite massive interest from rival clubs.

McCartney joined GWS at the end of the 2017 season and in that time has played a crucial part in keeping the Giants' list stocked full of talent alongside the club's head of recruiting Adrian Caruso.

The former North Melbourne utility came to GWS from the Western Bulldogs where he helped the club to a drought-breaking premiership win in 2016 as their list manager.

GWS chief executive Dave Matthews said the changes came about after an intensive review of the club's football department.
