WEST Coast coach Adam Simpson has refused to be drawn on a potential trade involving wantaway Fremantle forward Hayden Ballantyne, but admits the Eagles "could do with a serial pest".
 
Ballantyne has requested a trade to cross-town rival West Coast despite having a year to run on his contract.
 
The 29-year-old goalkicker has built a reputation for getting under the skin of his opponents over the course of his 138-game career.
 
Simpson said Ballantyne's tactics would suit the Eagles.
 
"Everyone could do with a serial pest," Simpson told radio station 3AW on Sunday.
 
"He's a good player and it's something that I'm sure the club will look at once the timing is right for us."
 
Simpson said he would focus on any potential move at the end of the season.
 
The coach added having a big name such as Ballantyne linked to his club was a sign that players viewed the Eagles as an attractive destination.
 
"I'll worry about that when the season ends for us," Simpson said.
 
"It's great if a player declares they want to come to us, that's fantastic (and) it probably shows we're in a good space, but I'm not going to get involved with the public conversations on it."
 
Meanwhile, Simpson said the Eagles would accept the Match Review Panel's findings for Simon Tunbridge's final-quarter sling tackle on Adam Kennedy that left the GWS midfielder concussed on Saturday.
 
"We thought he was still trying to dispose of the ball when he laid the tackle, but times have changed a little bit," Simpson said.
 
"I'm sure we'll cop what we cop … It's part of the game to some degree but there's some duty of care as well."
