GOLD Coast has ended speculation on Sam Day's future, re-signing the key position player for a further three years. 

Day said it was always his intention to remain with the Suns.

"I’ve been enjoying my footy and I love living here, so I never considered playing anywhere else," he said. 

"I also couldn’t leave my teammates.

"We all came here as 17 or 18-year-olds and although we have gone through some tough times we can all see the direction we are heading and if we can persevere through those difficult times it is going to be so much more rewarding at the end of the day." 

Day is in the midst of arguably his best season, playing a crucial role in the backline to cover the absences of Steven May and Rory Thompson and now joining Tom Lynch and Peter Wright in a potent three-man forward line.

Day will be with the Suns until at least the end of 2019.

List and strategy manager Scott Clayton said Day was highly respected at the Suns. 

"He has the unique ability to play at both ends of the ground and he is part of a core group of players we believe will bring a culture of respect and success to the Gold Coast," Clayton said.
