BRETT Deledio has flagged his interest in joining Geelong, but Steven Motlop will not be part of any deal that sends the star Tiger to the Cattery.

Richmond football talent manager Dan Richardson confirmed Deledio had spoken to the club about the possibility of leaving to join the Cats.

But the Tigers will not explore the option of trading for Geelong speedster Motlop.

"Steve's probably not a player we're interested in so we'll see where we go from there," Richardson said.

The Cats and Tigers held preliminary discussions about a deal involving Deledio at Etihad Stadium on Monday.

The 29-year-old is contracted to the Tigers until the end of next season.

"Geelong has expressed their interest and we had some discussions today that didn't progress too far. It's the first days so there's a long way to go," Richardson said.

"We'll see how things pan out. Brett has expressed his interest in joining Geelong as well, but at this stage we won't be letting Brett Deledio go for nothing that's for sure.

"Today's discussion was really Geelong expressing their interest which was reasonably strong and we'll go from there." 

Richardson also strongly denied star forward Jack Riewoldt would be on the move after speculation he may leave the club.

"Not to our knowledge, no, so I'm not sure where that's come from," Richardson said.

"Jack's got three more years to go on his contract and he's a very important player for us."

Richardson also confirmed the club's interest in ruckmen Toby Nankervis and Nathan Vardy, but the Tigers have not looked at bringing in Port's Matthew Lobbe.

"We've got some interest in Toby but at the moment the Swans want to retain him," Richardson said.

"With Ty (Vickery) now officially moving (to Hawthorn as a free agent), there's some interest in acquiring another player."

Meanwhile, young Tigers forward Ben Lennon is exploring his options but Richardson said there had been little interest from other clubs on day one of trade period.

And midfielder Reece Conca will "more than likely" remain at Richmond, after he was offered a two-year contract.
