MELBOURNE has finalised its playing numbers for 2017.
The Demons' first selection in the draft, forward Mitch Hannan, will take the number 19, most recently worn by Ben Newton.
Their other draft pick, Dion Johnstone, will don the number 37 worn in the early career of club legend Jim Stynes.
Aaron vandenBerg wore number 37 this year, and his good form has been rewarded with a promotion to number 22.
Melbourne's rookies have also received their playing numbers – Tim Smith picks up Jeremy Howe's number 38, Declan Keilty will pull on number 41, and ruckman Lachie Filipovic has taken number 47, most recently worn by fellow big man Max King.
Players acquired during the trade period have already been given their numbers.
Prize recruit Jordan Lewis will wear number 6, ex-Bomber Michael Hibberd takes on Lynden Dunn's number 14 and Pat McKenna picks up number 40.
Category B rookie Corey Maynard will wear number 48.
