IT'S THE Big Dance and only two people per league remain on the verge of earning bragging rights for the next 12 months as the superior Fantasy coach among their mates.
Anyone who has Rory Sloane (MID, $523,000) as a unique option in their match-up is already on the back foot, with the superstar missing this week’s favourable home game against the Eagles. Losing a gun player before team selection is brutal, especially as we enter the unknown of whether teams will rest players despite the forthcoming week off at the end of the regular season.
As far as a replacement for Sloane goes, your projected total against your opponent can determine whether it is better to match one of their unique players, or chase a gun they do not have.
Either way, my top three projected midfielders for the round are:
Tom Rockliff (MID, $625,000): With 179 and 184 in his last two at Etihad Stadium, Rocky will look to send his fellow Pig Dane Swan off with an OINK!
Lachie Neale (MID, $550,000): The Dogs gave up plenty of points to opposition midfielders last week and coming off 169, he will end the season with a bang.
Luke Parker (MID, $579,000): All the Swans midfielders will enjoy some bruise-free footy, but it will be Parks leading the way after previous scores of 128, 116, 111, 158 and 140 in his most recent games at the SCG.
As usual, Calvin will release his top five captaincy options, as well as a few smokies for anyone needing a left field option to give them a chance to win it all, but it will be hard to say no to the blokes mentioned above.
Having said that, Patrick Dangerfield (MID, $581,000) and young gun Zach Merrett (FWD/MID, $584,000) look set for huge returns given their match-ups, so tune in for the Mad Pirate’s expert opinion.
No doubt the teams will generate some panic, but don’t fear, we will cover whatever selection obstacles come our way to get you over the line.
