CHASING the Coleman Medal is not on Tom Lynch's radar, but Gold Coast's stand-in skipper says Josh Kennedy will be hard to run down over the final three rounds.
Lynch (61) is tied with Sydney Swan Lance Franklin in second place on the goalkicking list, but Kennedy's seven-goal haul in Sunday's Derby win over Fremantle has pushed him well clear on 67 goals.
Lynch kicked four against Greater Western Sydney in another stellar display on Saturday, and with matches against Essendon, Collingwood and Port Adelaide to finish his season, is not out of the picture.
But the 23-year-old says it's not part of his thinking.
"During the game you don't really think about it," Lynch said.
"He's (Kennedy) kicked seven on the weekend, so he's shot out in front. He's going to be pretty hard to catch now."
Lynch has had an exceptional season, kicking four goals or more in 10 of his 19 matches, and leading the league for contested marks (56).
He is also extremely unselfish, with his 21 goal assists trailing only West Coast's Jamie Cripps (23) and Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker (22).
"I'm just trying to do the team thing," Lynch said.
"I went to pass it to Brandon (Matera) on the weekend and it didn't come off and I copped a bit of stick for that.
"It's a team game and you do your best to try and get the win."
Lynch says he's getting better every season, and credits new high performance manager Justin Cordy with his development this year.
"I'm a bit stronger and a bit quicker through his program," he said.
"I think I've definitely got a long way to go to improve, I'm still only young, I'm 23.
"I feel I can still improve in most areas."
