ST KILDA defender Sam Fisher may have played the last game of his career, with a hamstring injury threatening to keep him out for the rest of the season.
The 34-year-old is uncontracted for next year. Saints coach Alan Richardson said after the loss to the Sydney Swans last Saturday night the club would decide Fisher's fate at season's end.
Saints football manager Jamie Cox told saints.com.au Fisher hadn't suffered any major damage to his jaw when he copped a big hit from Swans ruckman Toby Nankervis in the third quarter.
"Sam did suffer a low level hamstring strain during the game, more so tightness," Cox said.
"He'll miss this week, but he'll be a test for next week."
It is the third time Fisher has run into hamstring issues this season, and it has limited him to 11 matches, with the final round to be played next week.
The most matches Fisher has managed in a season since 2012 is 18, which he achieved last year.
Ruckman Tom Hickey won't be fit to face Richmond on Saturday afternoon at the MCG either, after he strained his left calf. The club is hopeful Hickey will be available to line up against the Brisbane Lions in round 23.
"(It was) reasonably low level and he's recovering fairly well, but 'Hicks' has already been ruled out for this week," Cox said.
Defender Jarryn Geary will need to pass a fitness test after his back seized up in the pre-game warm-up against the Swans.
"He's recovering OK," Cox said.
Luke Dunstan will have a latarjet procedure on his left shoulder next Monday after he dislocated the joint against Carlton in round 20.
Dunstan, 21, had surgery on his right shoulder in 2014.
"He should be ready to start his running program at the start of pre-season," Cox said.
