RICHMOND defender Steven Morris will miss the rest of the season after scans confirmed he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Friday night.
The 27-year-old went down with the injury after landing awkwardly in a marking contest in the first term against North Melbourne, and was taken off the ground on a stretcher.
Tigers football manager Dan Richardson said Morris's season-ending injury would be a significant loss.
"The injury is disappointing for Steve, he's a tough competitor and been playing great football this season," Richardson told the club's website on Sunday.
"It's never easy to see a player go down with a long-term injury, but Steve is a resilient person and we'll support him throughout the rehab process."
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick all but confirmed the ACL tear after the game, which will sideline the 185cm backman for the next 12 months.
Meanwhile, forward Ben Griffiths suffered a lateral ligament sprain in his right ankle after landing on Drew Petrie's foot in a marking contest in the third quarter.
The club said Griffiths would be closely monitored over the coming days before a decision was made on his availability for next Sunday's clash against Gold Coast at the MCG.
Defender Dylan Grimes, who was a late withdrawal from the Kangaroos-Tigers clash after experiencing right hamstring soreness, will have to prove his fitness at training this week.
The club added that fellow backman Nick Vlastuin would have to pass the usual post-concussion testing before being declared fully fit to play.
Vlastuin did not take any part after half-time because of a head knock he received after colliding with Jarrad Waite's hip in the second term.
Thank you to everyone for the messages of support. It's very much appreciated
