HAWTHORN has opposition in its way in the race for restricted free agent Ty Vickery, player agent Scott Lucas has revealed.
Far from being the done deal with the Hawks many had suspected, Lucas said the field was much wider.
"Free agency is something we'll strongly explore, and I don't think that's a secret," Lucas said.

"The newspapers have been very specific (in regards to Hawthorn), and I think it's a bit broader than that.
"There's additional interest here."
Lucas said Vickery was still weighing up his options, and his decision to miss the club's best and fairest should not be seen as an indication he will leave the Tigers.
"Vickers was going away anyway, it'd been two or three months since he'd seen his wife (Arina Rodionova) who's a very good tennis player and had been in the US.

"If he arrives at the decision that he would like to explore those options, then I think we will."
Lucas also discussed the future of another forward who's future has been queried in James Sicily.
With young gun Jaeger O'Meara having stated his intention to join Hawthorn, Sicily's name has been raised as a possible trade option.
"I'm not keen with any player to get caught up with trade speculation.
"He's in contract, he loves the club. If they (Hawthorn) would like to do something, they need to get us in on it."
After Sicily's break-out year, Lucas said he wouldn't be surprised if clubs were interested in the young forward, but suggested with Gold Coast's supply of key-position players, they'd be more likely to target midfielders.
