FREMANTLE skipper David Mundy faces a fitness test ahead of Friday night's clash with Geelong after suffering a concussion in the loss to Melbourne last week.

But teammate Hayden Crozier said signs were positive Mundy would play after he confirmed the Dockers captain did some running at a closed training session on Tuesday morning.

Mundy was prolific in the opening term against the Demons but only collected 14 disposals for the night and finished the match on the bench after copping a knock to the head.

He only has a six-day turnaround ahead of Friday night's clash at Domain Stadium but Crozier said he was a good chance to get up.

"I'm not too sure how he is," Crozier said on Tuesday afternoon.

"I know he was out there doing some running earlier this morning, so signs are looking pretty good I think."

Experienced midfielder Michael Barlow is likely to return after missing last week with a finger injury. He had surgery on a fractured finger he suffered in round 14 and was close to playing last week, but was ruled out by the medical staff.

The Dockers are desperate to atone for their last two performances. After three consecutive wins against Essendon, the Brisbane Lions and Port Adelaide they have produced two woeful performances against Collingwood and Melbourne.

The most concerning aspect of those losses were the Dockers' first halves where they managed a combined four goals and conceded 16 to their opponents.

Crozier said it was something the group had addressed this week.

"It's really been letting us down the last few weeks," Crozier said.

"It's something we've reviewed this week and we're looking to improve.

"There's been positives in those games. We've come out after half-time and really played good footy, the Fremantle brand of footy that we want to play.

"Obviously it's been disappointing that we haven't been doing that in the first quarter.

"The onus is on the playing group to come out and really stamp our authority from the word go."

The Dockers have lost the contested possession count by 16 and 21 against the Magpies and Demons respectively, and will have their work cut out again this week against the Cats who have two of the top-eight contested ball winners in the AFL in Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood.
