BROWNLOW medallist Nat Fyfe says he will look at every option before deciding where his future lies when his current contract at Fremantle runs out at the end of 2017.

Fyfe is contracted with the Dockers for next season but there is already speculation building around his long-term future.

Coach Ross Lyon told Fox Footy in July that the club would need to prove to Fyfe there was a clear path to success with the Dockers' rebuild in order to keep him at the club.

Fremantle chief executive Steve Rosich told 6PR on Sunday that he was "very confident" Fyfe would re-sign with the club long-term despite no formal discussions with Fyfe's management about his next contract.

Fyfe is set to qualify for free agency at the end of next season and he told Channel Seven on Wednesday night that he would assess all his options before making a decision on his future. 

"The idea of free agency is that players do have a say in their career and it would be remiss of me not to look at every possible option," Fyfe said. 

"But if I see a strong future at Freo then that's where I'll be playing my footy."  

Fyfe had the plate removed from his leg last week after it was inserted back in May to fix his fractured left fibula. It was the second such fracture he suffered in eight months and it ended his season just five games in.

He admitted the injuries across his career so far were taking a toll but he was confident of returning better than ever in 2017. 

"I've had 14 surgeries now and they're starting to stack up," Fyfe said.

"Back off the last one I was really diligent and did all my rehab as well as could be expected and there was no signs that anything was going to go wrong and then it did.

"So there's always going to be a level of doubt in a lot of aspects of my body.

"I firmly believe I can get back to being as good if not better than I was. I'm really excited by that prospect."
