THE BRISBANE Lions have lodged paperwork to elevate rookie Jackson Paine to its senior list.
Paine has been elevated to replace defender Justin Clarke, who retired from the game earlier this season after being unable to overcome recurring concussions.
The elevation puts Paine squarely in the frame to play Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.
Since moving to the Lions from Collingwood at the end of 2013, Paine has been dogged by injury, with shoulder and ankle problems ensuring he didn't play a game last year.
After delisting him at the end of last season, the Lions committed to redrafting Paine as a rookie.
Initially recruited as a forward, he has been switched to defence in 2016 and impressed in the Lions' NEAFL team.
He has played 12 career games, including six for the Lions.
