RICHMOND forward Ben Griffiths has been ruled out for the Tigers' final-round trip to face the Sydney Swans at the SCG with a groin injury.
The tall forward has missed three of the past four games with the problem and the decision has been made to end his season.
Half-back Kamdyn McIntosh, who had been pushing to return from an ankle injury before the final round, has also been put in cotton wool after just six games this season.
With Griffiths sidelined, the Tigers could choose to recall out-of-contract tall Ty Vickery, whose future at the club is under a cloud.
This season coach Damien Hardwick has repeatedly stated his desire to keep Vickery at the Tigers, but the 26-year-old is yet to sign a new deal.
Griffiths' absence could also allow the Tigers to continue exposing young tall Todd Elton at the top level after he played his third game in five seasons in round 22.
Rookie tall Callum Moore also made his debut against St Kilda on Saturday and could be retained for the trip to the SCG.
Griffiths, 24, played 13 games in 2016 and kicked 14 goals, including a haul of five against the Swans back in round eight.
