GEELONG coach Chris Scott has all but confirmed Scott Selwood will return in Friday night's qualifying final against Hawthorn.
Selwood, who was floated by Scott as an option to tag Sam Mitchell at the MCG, missed the Cats' final game of the regular season with a tight hamstring.
Selwood trained on the weekend, pulled up well and Scott was buoyant about the midfielder's chances on Monday night.
"It's looking likely," Scott told Fox Footy, when asked if Selwood will tackle the Hawks.
"I should say it's likely he'll be available. He played pretty well for us pre the round 23 game against Melbourne.
"We're not in a position where we guarantee players their spots prior to match committee but all is looking pretty good there."
Scott was less definitive about injured defender Lachie Henderson.
Henderson also missed the 111-point win over the Demons, having undergone knee surgery a fortnight ago.
"He's a little bit behind Scott (Selwood). They're not necessarily in competition, they've got different issues but we're optimistic that he'll come up," Scott said.
"We're also optimistic that it's going to be a long finals series for us. We're guaranteed an extra week at the very least.
"So if it's line ball and he doesn't quite make it, I will say we'd be optimistic he'll come up for the next week if required.
"It's black and white for me, he's either available to play or not ... I think with this one they (club medical staff) will say he's right or he's not.
"We won't be taking him in, unsure of whether he can do the job."
