AFTER a season ravaged by injuries, North Melbourne has turned to former Netherlands Olympics sports program manager Scott Dickinson as its new strength and conditioning coach.

Dickinson also previously spent time at NRL club Newcastle Knights.

The role at the Roos was previously filled by Dan Meehan, who left during the season to take up a position with NBA team Brooklyn Nets. The Roos' football boss at the time, Geoff Walsh, admitted the timing of the move wasn't ideal.

North started the year 9-0 but won just three more games for the season with the Roos struggling to keep their best players on the park. Shaun Higgins, Jarrad Waite, Mason Wood and Luke McDonald were among those to spend time on the sidelines.

The Kangaroos made finals on percentage only and were comfortably defeated by Adelaide in their elimination final.

"Scott has a lot of experience in managing strength and conditioning programs across a range of different sports and has experience with athletes around the world," football manager Cameron Joyce told nmfc.com.au.

"We're excited to begin working with Scott once the entire playing group is back together in December."

Steve Saunders has been North's high performance manager since 2010.
