THE AFL is reportedly considering action against Greater Western Sydney midfielder Lachie Whitfield and two former senior Giants staff over an alleged anti-doping breach.
A report by the AFL's integrity unit into Whitfield's alleged attempts to avoid illicit drug testing in 2015 has been handed to the AFL and ASADA, The Australian says.
The findings have reportedly been discussed by the AFL's executive.
The Giants have previously said an independent investigation vindicated Whitfield and found no significant basis to support allegations he had attempted to avoid drug testing.
It has been claimed former football manager Graeme Allan and former welfare manager Craig Lambert conspired for the player to stay at the latter's home to avoid ASADA drug testers.
Allan is now at Collingwood and Lambert is with the Brisbane Lions.
The trio face possible multi-year bans if it is proved they conspired to evade or were complicit in seeking to evade a drug test.
It has also been reported Whitfield's then-girlfriend had expressed concerns via email over his behaviour and potential use of illicit substances and there are incriminating text messages between her and the 2012 No.1 draft pick.
An AFL spokesman told AFL.com.au on Tuesday, "The position is still that we've had the brief of evidence and been getting various legal opinion as to how we act from here.
"That process is still occurring so I'm not sure how soon, but we'll have an announcement on which way we'll be going."
