A GROUP of suspended Essendon players have met with Mick Malthouse on Tuesday morning as momentum grows for the former coach to guide the players through their suspension.

The meeting is understood to have involved a collection of Bombers, including Jobe Watson and Dyson Heppell, interested to hear what such a program might entail.

Malthouse, the AFL's coaching games record-holder who has been out of the game since midway through last season when he was sacked by Carlton, has put a proposal forward to help players banned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

He told SEN on Monday he could create an environment that would have the players in the best physical and mental shape possible when they are once again allowed to return to Essendon once their ban ends.

The proposal also includes David Buttifant, who worked as a fitness adviser alongside Malthouse at Collingwood and Carlton, before leaving the Blues at the end of the 2015. 

Malthouse admitted the logistics remained an issue but said if parties who are allowed to have contact with the players could come together, a solution could be reached.

"I think it can happen if you get the right people in place," Malthouse told SEN.

"There are so many threads that have to be joined in this instance."

Malthouse and Buttifant set up a business, Keen Edge, at the end of last year providing leadership courses to corporate clients.
