JACOB Weitering has signed a deal that will see him contracted at Carlton until the end of 2021.
The No.1 selection in last year's NAB AFL Draft, Weitering had received a standard two-year contract given to draftees.
His four-year extension will see his tenure at the club stretch for six years. He played 20 games this season and impressed with his composure in defence.
Weitering finished third in the NAB AFL Rising Star on Tuesday, behind Callum Mills and Caleb Daniel.
Carlton president Mark LoGiudice made the announcement at the club's best and fairest on Friday night at Crown Palladium.
"Jacob Weitering has signed a four-year deal, which will see him play at our club until the end of 2021," LoGiudice said.
"(It was) an outstanding start to your career and an outstanding start for our football club."
The news comes in the wake of Kade Simpson and Levi Casboult signing on for next year, and Jack Silvagni's one-year extension that will see him at the Blues until the end of 2018.
Michael Jamison, Andrew Walker and Cameron Wood have retired while Clem Smith, Matthew Dick and Jayden Foster have been delisted.
