MILLION-DOLLAR Western Bulldogs forward Tom Boyd will have a shoulder reconstruction at the end of the season.
Boyd injured the joint in the round four clash against Carlton and was forced to sit out the following six matches.
The 21-year-old told The Age he is still troubled by the issue, but is in no doubt for Saturday's preliminary final against his former side Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium.
"I used that time to strengthen it, but I have to go and get the (reconstruction) done at the end of the year," Boyd said.
"It hasn't fallen out again since I hurt it this year, so that's good, but it still troubles me a bit, so it will be good to go and get it fixed properly."
He also spent six weeks in the VFL during which time he was suspended for a drunken incident with teammate Zaine Cordy.
It will only be the second time Boyd has faced his former side since he walked out on the club at the end of 2014, only a year after being drafted with the first overall pick.
