TASMANIAN goalkicking sensation Rohan Baldock is on the verge joining an elite club as he powers towards 200 goals for the season.
South Burnie's playing coach, who plays in Tasmania's Darwin Football Association, has booted 181 majors in 15 matches.
Baldock would become the 12th man in history to kick 200 goals for one team in a season.
His biggest tally was 22 against Ridgley a fortnight ago, marking the largest bag of his life.
It was the third time this season the forward has bettered his career-high haul. His first personal best came when he slotted 20 against Queenstown in mid-April, before he registered 21 versus Yeoman three weeks later.
His closest competitors this year are Evandale's Matthew Clayton of the Northern Tasmanian Football Association (111 goals) and Mannum's Jack Woollard, who plays under-17s in the River Murray Football League (104).
Baldock has hit double figures on nine occasions, and brought up his century after nine rounds.
If fortune is on Baldock's side, his goalkicking feats could extend further.
Trevor Sutton, who notched up 249 for Deniliquin in the Murray Football League in 1982, holds the record for most goals in a season.
South Burnie has four matches left in the home and away campaign, before a finals series that could last for up to four matches. Baldock needs another 69 goals to break Sutton's mark.
If the Hawks win the premiership, it would mark their fourth flag in five years. They sit second with a 12-3 record and a percentage of 304.
