As he did last week, coach John Longmire has some huge decisions to make. His selection of Kurt Tippett (jaw), Gary Rohan (knee) and Zak Jones (concussion) paid big dividends in the Swans' preliminary final win over Geelong, and he could also get some big names back for the Grand Final. Jarrad McVeigh (calf), key defender Aliir Aliir (knee), and NAB AFL Rising Star winner Callum Mills (hamstring) are this week's injury worries, and all three will need to get through Wednesday's closed training session to have any chance of being picked to face the Dogs. McVeigh is the most likely to come in, with his calf issue from the semi-final on the minor side, but Aliir and Mills would have had more than a few sleepless nights recently. Harry Marsh and Jeremy Laidler loom as possible casualties if McVeigh and Mills are passed fit after Jones starred in last week's victory over the Cats. The Bulldogs' small forward line is likely to count against Laidler and a possible call up for veteran Ted Richards, even if Aliir gets up, but going on history, Longmire is unlikely to take a risk with any of his injured stars in such a big game. - Adam Curley
Luke Beveridge will have some tough decisions to make at the selection table ahead of Saturday's Grand Final, with ruckman Jordan Roughead and defensive playmaker Matt Suckling both battling injury concerns. Roughead sustained an eye bleed after being hit in the head with the ball at close range in the preliminary final win over Greater Western Sydney. The 25-year-old is expected to play, but if he doesn't come up Tom Campbell or Will Minson loom as replacements after good games in the VFL Grand Final on Sunday. Suckling's troublesome Achilles forced him out of the prelim, but the club is confident the week's rest will see him available to face the Swans. Key defender Fletcher Roberts came in to replace the former Hawk, and looks likely to make way and become the Dogs' Grand Final heartbreak story. Lin Jong put his hand up for recall after best on ground performance in Footscray's premiership win in his return from a collarbone fracture. The tough midfielder picked up 29 disposals, nine marks and six inside 50s. Fellow midfielder Lukas Webb and running defender Roarke Smith are also in the selection frame are being emergencies for the trip to Sydney. - Ryan Davidson
