YOUNG Geelong defender Jake Kolodjashnij could be included in the Cats' team to play Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Sunday after making a quick recovery from a broken hand suffered at training a fortnight ago.
It's good news for the Cats, as Kolodjashnij would have been a certain starter in the game against Adelaide two weeks ago, except for the training mishap that led to surgery on his hand.
He was sorely missed last week at the MCG when Collingwood opened up the Geelong defence.
The 20-year-old, who has played 15 games and six so far this season, joined in main training on Wednesday, with Cats physio Mark Young telling the club website Kolodjashnij was a chance to play.
"Jake's making really good progress with the hand surgery he had two weeks ago," Young said.
"He's been joining in some training drills today and feeling confident.
"We'll do a few more tests on Friday, but he's a chance to play this weekend."
The Cats will also be keen for experienced full-back Tom Lonergan to resume after concussion kept him sidelined for most of the game against the Crows and he then miss the clash against the Magpies.
The club took a cautious approach with the veteran but he has bounced back well and Young said Lonergan would be available for selection.
