FREMANTLE youngster Harley Balic will consult a specialist next week in relation to his troublesome left wrist.

When Balic joined the Dockers at pick No.38 in last year's NAB AFL Draft, he had already undergone two operations after fracturing his scaphoid bone dunking a basketball in 2013.

Balic's most recent operation was in August last year and he has largely been confined to Fremantle's rehab group during his first AFL pre-season.

A Fremantle spokesman told AFL.com.au on Thursday that the club would have a clearer picture about the state of Balic's wrist after he met with the specialist.

Balic made the Under-18 All Australian team last year after starring for Vic Metro at the NAB AFL Championships.

The 187cm forward/midfielder was widely tipped to be taken near the end of the first round of last year's national draft, with his wrist believed to be a factor in him sliding to the Dockers.
