PETER Sumich will travel to Adelaide this week to discuss a senior role working alongside coach and former teammate Don Pyke as the Crows restructure their football department.
Sumich, who left Fremantle in August after five seasons as an assistant and senior development coach, will speak to the Crows about a proposed high performance role.
The 48-year-old last week turned down a midfield coaching position at West Coast and has also been sought out by North Melbourne.
Pyke and Sumich played alongside each other at West Coast between 1989 and 1996, winning premierships in 1992 and 1994 and playing in the losing 1991 Grand Final.
With the departure of football manager David Noble, the Crows are exploring a football department restructure and could split Noble's duties.
Sumich, who is part of the AFL's Level Four accreditation program, would take on the coaching and football aspects of the role and not player contracts.
Phil Harper is the Crows' general manager of football administration, while Justin Reid is general manager of list management and strategy.
Noble was announced as the Brisbane Lions' new general manager of football on Thursday morning, five days after the Crows campaign finished.
Noble's confirmation will hasten the appointment of the club's next senior coach, which is already believed to be a two-horse race between Hawthorn football manager Chris Fagan and Carlton assistant John Barker.
