WESTERN Bulldogs vice-president Susan Alberti has announced her departure after 12 years as a director.
The 69-year-old will leave the Bulldogs after completing her fourth term at the Whitten Oval, the maximum allowed by the club.
"Rules are rules, so it's time to pass the baton on to somebody younger," Alberti told Triple M radio on Tuesday.
"We've got the place in good order right now. I think it's time to go."
Alberti was appointed to the Bulldogs board at the end of 2004, having played a key role in keeping the club afloat financially during the 1990s.
She has also been a driving force behind women's football.
Alberti said she would still continue to be involved in the Western Bulldogs, through their AFLW side and the Western Bulldogs Forever Foundation.
On Monday night, Alberti took to Twitter to share the news with her followers.
"Thank you for all your beautiful messages," she tweeted.
"I maybe retiring from WB [sic] but my heart and mind will love them forever."
Alberti is a life member of the Western Bulldogs, an honour she was given last year.
Thank you for all your beautiful messages. I maybe retiring from WB but my heart and mind will love them forever. Go Dogs
