FORMER Docker Michael Barlow won't be at Geelong next year after Cats recruiting manager Stephen Wells said the club had no interest in any recently delisted players.

The first of three delisted free agency periods opened on Tuesday but, having seen the players already cut by their clubs, Wells said the Cats would focus their attention on the NAB AFL Draft.

"We've still got some decisions to make regarding that, but at this stage we don't have any free agents that we're likely to sign," Wells said on a club podcast.

"Clubs can still change their lists another time before the draft, so we'll wait and see what happens there.

"But we have no plans at this stage to be signing a free agent."

That stance also rules out mobile tall Xavier Richards, key defender Mitch Brown and small forward Josh Green.

Geelong's first pick at the draft is No.24 and the club could use up to six selections on November 25.

The club brought in rebounding defender Zach Tuohy from Carlton and forward Aaron Black from North Melbourne during the NAB AFL Trade Period, while sending tough midfielder Josh Caddy to Richmond, forward Shane Kersten to Fremantle and ruckman Nathan Vardy to West Coast.

Geelong wanted to trade for Brett Deledio but the club struggled to fit him into the salary cap, with the former Tiger ending up at Greater Western Sydney.

Financial pressures are not only relevant to player payments at Geelong, with president Colin Carter telling News Corp the club would avoid losing money this year only because of donations.

The Cats have made a financial loss over the past two years, despite missing the finals just once since 2007.

Redeveloping Simonds Stadium will allow the club to seat 36,000 but it has come at a significant cost.

"The accounting will show we are (in the positive) because of the success of our fundraising program but the underlying position is still affected by the big hole in the ground," Carter said.

"We won’t get (to a profit) but we are on the path to get there. When the new stand is up (we will) and we need to get to a position where we have that extra game at Simonds which is worth half a million dollars to us. We will be in good shape.

"We are spending a lot of money on our stadium this year but this year we have a hole in the ground and our gaming machines are out and in storage, so that explains the loss.

"We will show a profit but the underlying trading position isn't near where we need to get it."
