GEELONG has left out crafty forward Daniel Menzel and ruckman Nathan Vardy for Easter Monday's blockbuster against Hawthorn, while the Hawks have included Will Langford after an injury-interrupted pre-season.
Menzel (calf) couldn’t force his way into the side despite appearing in a VFL practice match alongside skipper Joel Selwood on March 18, which the captain dominated to prove he was ready to face the Hawks.
Vardy played all three NAB Challenge matches, but the 199cm big man wasn't picked with the Cats already boasting recruit Zac Smith in the ruck and potential pinch-hitters Mark Blicavs and Rhys Stanley.
Josh Cowan was also left out of the final Geelong side, which has handed club debuts to boom recruits Patrick Dangerfield and Lachie Henderson.
Langford comes into the Hawks' side as a like-for-like replacement for midfield bull Liam Shiels (wrist) after overcoming a knee injury from a freak boating accident during the pre-season.
Former Giant pick Jono O'Rourke has also been picked after a strong NAB Challenge, among six forced changes to the 2015 premiership team.
Also into the Hawks team come James Sicily, Jonathon Ceglar, Angus Litherland and Billy Hartung.
Litherland got the nod ahead of Kaiden Brand in defence, while Daniel Howe and first-year player Blake Hardwick are the other emergencies.
