COLLINGWOOD has secured Tim Broomhead ahead of next week's NAB AFL Trade Period, re-signing the promising forward for two years.
Broomhead was due to come out of contract at the end of this month, but a Collingwood spokesperson confirmed to AFL.com.au on Thursday the 22-year-old had agreed to a new deal that will keep him at the Holden Centre until the end of 2018.
The South Australian was the No.20 pick in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft but injuries have limited to him to just 21 games in four seasons with Collingwood.
Broomhead made solid progress in the first half of 2015 before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury, while shoulder and ankle injuries kept him to just two senior games in 2016.
The Pies still have high hopes for Broomhead, who plays the tough position of high half-forward well and is a natural crumber when he drifts closer to goal.
An elite kick, he is also someone the Magpies think could rotate through the midfield in future seasons.
Broomhead was a NAB AFL Rising Star nominee last season after finishing with 25 touches (13 contested) and a goal in the Magpies' round 11 win over Greater Western Sydney.
