WESTERN Bulldogs premiership player Clay Smith has joined Lin Jong in agreeing to a new deal at the club.
Just hours after Jong's two-year deal was confirmed, the club announced Smith had agreed to a one-year extension.
The 23-year-old made a stunning return from his third knee reconstruction this season, playing the final 13 games including a best-on-ground performance in the preliminary final win over GWS.
"To be a premiership player with a great bunch of people, and then sign an extension, I can't think of a more happier time in football," Smith said on the club's website.
"My challenges have been well-documented, but it makes it all worthwhile when get to experience what we have over the past few weeks. I'm just rapt."
List manager Jason McCartney said it was just reward for the courageous midfielder turned forward.
"Clay is a heart and soul player, and has proven to be one of the most resilient young men we have seen in football," he said.
"For him to get back, year after year, and then play the pivotal role he played in this finals series is just testament to him.
"He is a great story, and we look forward to that continuing in the coming years."
Since being taken with pick No.17 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft, Smith has played 47 games and booted 35 goals.
