THE FIRST week of Fantasy finals is upon us, and for those coaches who are unaware, the structure mirrors that of the official AFL finals, where the top four will receive a double chance, while it is do or die for fifth to eighth.

Of course it has been a disappointing year for anyone sitting in the bottom eight, but you can stay involved by keeping your team updated in your own consolation finals series, while trying to improve your overall ranking at the same time.

Team selections are as important as ever and we are heading into the 'silly season' where clubs chosing to rest players for finals can be the difference between coaches making or missing the big dance.

On the flipside, clubs who are out of the eight may just put aging superstars on ice in order to have them ready to go in 2017, making veterans like Nick Riewoldt (FWD/MID, $505,000) a prime candidate for the cut in the weeks to come.

On this front, some concerning words have surfaced from the Bombers' camp in regard to players being tired and needing a rest, with the first name springing to mind being young sensation Zach Merrett (FWD/MID, $606,000), who not so much looks to need a rest, but certainly deserves one!

So, to state the obvious, team selections are MASSIVE tonight.

If you look beaten on paper, sometimes picking a unique captain can make up the points you need to be competitive, so stay tuned as Calvin releases his top selections as well as giving you a few roughies that could pump out the big score you need. Having said that, it will be hard to go anywhere other than Patrick Dangerfield (MID, $632,000).

Trades are obviously vital and will generate most of the conversation during this week's live chat.

The most popular question I have received of Twitter this week has been to rank under-priced forwards Toby Greene FWD/MID, $456,000), Devon Smith (FWD, $415,000), Steven Motlop (FWD/MID, $404,000) and Luke Dahlhaus (FWD/MID, $455,000), so tune in to see who I project to score the most points over the next four weeks.
