THE WESTERN Bulldogs look set to regain defensive playmaker Matt Suckling for Friday night's clash with Collingwood at Etihad Stadium.
The former Hawk has missed the past fortnight with an Achilles complaint, and he's a chance to be joined by midfielder Clay Smith who was forced out of the win over North Melbourne with concussion.
Bulldogs football manager Graham Lowe said a decision on the important duo's availability would be made later in the week.
"Matt Suckling’s been training well and his Achilles has settled down significantly," Lowe told westernbulldogs.com.au.
"Subject to training and meeting those expectations this week he’ll be available for selection this weekend.
"Clay suffered a concussion during the (North Melbourne) match, but he’s come in well today which is great news.
"He’ll have to get through concussion protocols this week before we determine if he’s available for selection this weekend."
Tough midfielder Mitch Honeychurch has recovered from a hamstring complaint and will likely resume through the VFL.
Impressive draftee Bailey Williams has pulled up well from a recent knee procedure and the club is confident he'll be available for selection before the finals.
But the news is not good for Kieran Collins, with the first-year key defender set to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.
Selected with pick 26 in last year's NAB AFL Draft, the Dandenong Stingrays product made his debut against the Giants in round nine – his only senior appearance of the season.
