TOM LYNCH has re-signed with Gold Coast for a further two years.

The vice-captain was always likely to stay, but put an end to any speculation by recommitting to the Suns until at least the end of 2018.

The reigning club champion said the time was right to extend his future.

"It was always my intention to re-sign with the Suns and I felt there was no better time to do it," Lynch said.

"We’ve worked hard, especially during the last six to 12 months, to grow our leadership and shift our culture, and although the job is not done yet, there is a real sense of urgency and excitement about the future."

Lynch is now into his sixth season and arguably one of the best forwards in the game.

He is fresh from leading the Suns to a ground-breaking win over Fremantle at Domain Stadium on Saturday, booting five goals.

The former Dandenong Stingray is a key pillar in Gold Coast's future and general manager of football operations Marcus Ashcroft said the club was rapt Lynch had recommitted.

Suns' Game Breaker: Lynch outshines the Dockers

"It is evident that he is an important player for us going forward, but one of Tom’s biggest assets is that he is a team man, and his influence in this area has had an impact throughout the playing group and across the football club," Ashcroft said.

Lynch’s signature means the Suns have re-signed the top two from last year's club champion award, with Kade Kolodjashnij also recently extending until the end of 2018.

Lynch has topped 40 goals in the past two seasons and took the most contested marks in the competition in 2015.

He has played 82 games and kicked 133 goals since making his debut in 2011.
