ESSENDON rookie Gach Nyuon has been interviewed by police and is expected to be charged with a number of offences including "making threats to kill".

The 19-year-old, first-year ruckman was initially detained by police after an argument with an Uber driver in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in a public place and released later that morning.

Nyuon was interviewed by police on Monday.

"A 19-year-old Keysborough man has been interviewed by police and is expected to be charged on summons with making threats to kill, criminal damage, resist police and being drunk in a public place," a Victorian Police spokeswoman said.

The club was expected to sit down with Nyuon early this week to determine its own course of action.

"The club has spoken to Gach, and club management will consult with the leadership group to determine if any further action is required," the statement said on Sunday.

On Tuesday morning, Essendon was unable to comment.

The day prior to being arrested, Nyuon had been part of Essendon VFL's thrilling three-point win over Box Hill.
