ROSS Lyon says Fremantle is not hiding anything in regards to Nat Fyfe's injury and the club is confident the star midfielder will be fit for the first week of the finals.

The Dockers announced on Wednesday that Fyfe would miss the next two matches due to inflammation of the fibula in his left leg.

Fyfe has suffered three injury setbacks in the past seven weeks. He suffered a nasty cork to the right thigh in round 15 against Hawthorn and played the next two matches despite being severely hampered.

He then missed rounds 18 and 19 due to a groin injury.

Then, after playing the past two weeks, he has been struck down again, meaning he will have only played two matches out of six leading into the finals.

"We acknowledge the concern," Lyon said on Friday.

"We're certainly not hiding anything - what we released was very accurate.

"He's obviously frustrated, because he loves playing footy.

"But we're really confident we'll see him in really great shape for the first final as it stands today, barring any mishaps."

Lyon said Fyfe would be "off legs" for a short period of time to settle the inflammation. He will do some cross training in that period before ramping up his training again ahead of a planned return for the first final.

"He's an incredible athlete," Lyon said.

"He's done an incredible amount of work.

"He plays such a physical game, hopefully any bumps or bruises he may be carrying disappear."

Lyon also had no concerns about Fyfe losing any touch during the time off, citing his performance in round 18, 2012 - when Fyfe returned from 13 weeks off due to a shoulder injury to collect 26 touches, a goal, and the three Brownlow votes against Port Adelaide.

Lyon was also confident the Dockers' midfield could handle the loss of Fyfe. They beat Greater Western Sydney and St Kilda without him before losing the next two upon his return.

The Dockers are set to welcome back skipper Matthew Pavlich after he missed last week's loss to North Melbourne with an Achilles complaint.

Pavlich has trained all week and should be fine for Sunday's clash with Melbourne at Domain Stadium.

Lyon said he was expecting a fired-up Demons outfit after their coach Paul Roos said he would like his team to play angry.

"Paul is a friend of mine," Lyon said.

"They are really strong words. I have never heard Paul speak like that so we expect an angry Melbourne team."

The Dockers have won their past six matches against Melbourne and the Demons have not won in Perth since round 11, 2004.
