Pies, Bomber accept MRP fines after fiery Anzac Day blockbuster
Quartet fined after Anzac Day blue, as key Docker and Eagle escape bans
SIX PLAYERS have been slapped with $6000 in fines, but no suspensions have been handed down after the Match Review Panel's investigation of round four incidents across the Anzac Day weekend.
Marley Williams, Jack Frost and Jackson Ramsay (Collingwood) and Essendon forward Joe Daniher were cited for first offences for engaging in a melee during the traditional Anzac Day blockbuster at the MCG.
The quartet have accepted $1000 fines - down from $1500 – with early guilty pleas for the second term flare-up.
West Coast star Nic Naitanui and Fremantle midfielder Matt de Boer also accepted fines for first offences.
Naitanui was been charged with tripping Brisbane Lion Jack Redden.
The MRP graded the incident careless conduct with low impact to Redden's body and the Eagles ruckman has accepted a $1000 fine with an early guilty plea.
Dockers onballer de Boer was charged for striking Sydney Swans midfielder Harry Cunningham during the second quarter of his side's narrow win.
After assessing the video evidence and a medical report from the Swans, the MRP graded the hit as careless conduct with low impact to Cunningham's head.
An early plea reduced de Boer's offered sanction from $1500 to $1000.
Meanwhile, the MRP cleared Gold Coast's Dion Prestia and Lions onballer Daniel Rich after they were involved in round four incidents.
The panel ruled Prestia's contact with Greater Western Sydney opponent Rhys Palmer was unavoidable after the pair contested a loose ball in the fourth quarter of the Giants' record-breaking 11-goal win in Canberra.
And no further action was taken after Rich's high collision with Eagles defender Elliot Yeo was also deemed unavoidable during the first term of the Eagles' 53-point triumph at the Gabba.
What will give Brisbane the edge when they meet their old foes, Adelaide, in a preliminary?
