DISCARDED Port Adelaide midfielder Andrew Moore has been thrown an AFL lifeline by elder brother Kelvin's former club Richmond, with the Tigers claiming him as a delisted free agent on Friday.
Moore, the No.9 pick in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft, was delisted by the Power last month after playing 55 senior games in six seasons, including just five in 2015.
The Eastern Ranges product is a big-bodied on-baller at 189cm and 87kg, and has obvious appeal to a Richmond team looking to improve its inside midfield depth.
The 24-year-old is at his best as a first-possession winner at stoppages, but is also effective on the outside with his solid foot skills.
Richmond will be hoping Moore can finally deliver on the promise he showed as one of most exciting talents in the 2009 draft crop.
Moore's inability to establish himself in Port's team this season came despite outstanding SANFL form that saw him named in the Magpies' best players in all but one of his 13 games.
Kelvin Moore was a mainstay in the Tigers' defence from 2008-10, but a chronic hip condition forced him to retire in 2012 at just 28.
He played 87 games in eight seasons at Punt Road
