THE BATTLING Brisbane Lions just can't take a trick, with their Gabba gym and warm-up rooms going under water on Thursday morning.
A handful of Lions Academy players were forced to quickly halt their weights session when 30cm of water flooded the gym.
A pump that clears storm water from an adjoining room broke, causing water to first dribble – then quickly gush – in.
It left a flood of between 30-40cm of water.
The water main was then turned off for three hours, leaving Lions staff with no access to water or toilets.
Captain Tom Rockliff and a number of other staff members tweeted about the incident.
Rockliff said it was "time for a new facility I think", in reference to the Lions' two year – and counting – quest to fund a new training and administration base.
The club is still chasing funding for the new venue, with CEO Greg Swann meeting the Queensland premier recently.
Gabba staff was still clearing the affected rooms on Thursday afternoon, with no timeframe being set on a return to normality.
It's not the only problem the club has with water, with the player and staff carpark adjoining the ground regularly flooding when storms hit Brisbane.
