THE BRISBANE Lions will rebuff any trade offers for best and fairest-winning ruckman Stefan Martin, chief executive Greg Swann says.

Martin is under contract for next season, but has been linked to a move back to Victoria with several clubs, including the Western Bulldogs and Essendon, keen to bolster their ruck stocks.

But Swann insisted the 197 big man won't be leaving the Lions, just days after Martin was part of a four-way tie in the club champion award.

"He’s contracted and he’s going nowhere,” Swann told News Corp.

"He won’t be traded under any circumstances and we’ve told him that and he’s OK."

Martin played 20 games in his third season at the Queensland club after moving north in a trade from Melbourne.

He averaged 22 disposals, six marks and 33 hit-outs in a consistent campaign and was sent for arthroscopic knee surgery this week, which will have him back ready for pre-season training in November.

The Lions are keen to keep the 28-year-old, with fellow ruckman Matthew Leuenberger almost certain to leave the Gabba in October's free agency period.
