ADELAIDE insists it has plenty of room to improve after its mammoth 77-point round one win against North Melbourne, pointing at a third-term lapse in which its half-time lead was slashed.
The Crows led by 63 points at the main break and appeared set for a 100-point-plus victory before the visitors rallied and booted six unanswered majors.
Pleasingly for coach Phil Walsh, his side managed to absorb the attack and then punish the Kangaroos with nine of the game's last 10 goals.
Adelaide defender Kyle Cheney said that after a summer focusing on full-ground defence, the team would try to eliminate any such lapse against Collingwood on Saturday.
"The pressure around the ground was good on the weekend but…at the start of the third quarter we dropped away a little bit," Cheney said.
"There's been a massive focus on our team defence [all summer] and it's not just the back six being defenders - it starts with the forward line.
"We knew the Kangaroos were going to come out pretty hard after half-time and test us, but it was very pleasing to be able to stem that flow and kick on ourselves.
"We don't want to carry on too much, it's round one, we're focused on Collingwood now." The Crows will take on the Magpies at Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
