AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan has revealed the amount of positive illicit drugs tests among players have increased.
Speaking on Melbourne radio station 3AW, the league boss said that the latest results would be made public in the next few weeks.
While refusing to speak in great detail about the issue, McLachlan denied the drug "ice" was a problem in the AFL.
"Ice specifically is not a problem when we look into the numbers, it's not the drug being used. It's a huge problem in our community," McLachlan said.
"I think the issue at the elite level is different to the community but drugs are a challenge for everyone."
McLachlan said the latest statistics wouldn't be available publicly until AFL football operations manager Mark Evans has been in touch with all 18 clubs to notify them of the results from 2014.
McLachlan has already flagged changes to the league's three strikes policy on illicit drugs for the 2016 season, with Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley among those to express his concerns over the League's stance.
Magpies Lachie Keeffe and Josh Thomas returned positive tests for the performance-enhancing drug clenbuterol earlier this year, and remain suspended as they await their 'B' sample results.
There has been speculation that the WADA banned substance may have been contained in an illicit drug.
