THE PLAYING future of West Coast vice-captain Scott Selwood still remains unknown, Eagles skipper Shannon Hurn says.
The 25-year-old is a restricted free agent amid speculation he will join his brother, Joel, at Geelong next year.
Selwood is expected to have scans this week to determine whether a third bout of surgery is needed to correct a persistent ankle injury that has hampered his past two seasons.
Hurn said Selwood was still contemplating his playing future and whether to return to his home state of Victoria.
"Scotty will make that decision in his due time," Hurn said.
"He's been fantastic. He always trains with purpose. He's been a great team man.
"We'd love to have him around. But at the end of the day, it's up to him."
Selwood was named emergency in the Eagles' 46-point Grand Final loss to Hawthorn last Saturday.
The 186cm onballer had surgery on his troublesome ankle in June last year, which ruled him out for 10 matches.
Selwood won the Eagles' 2012 best and fairest, but his lingering ankle concerns has restricted him to just 25 games over the past two years.
