SYDNEY Swans speedster Gary Rohan is likely to miss at least a month of football with the hamstring injury suffered in Thursday night's win over Port Adelaide at the SCG.

It's a cruel blow for the 24-year-old, who has played every game this season, and has been one of the Swans' most consistent performers.

The former Geelong Falcon had to battle his way back from a sickening broken leg suffered in 2012, but managed 16 games in 2014 and hasn't missed a beat this year.

Coach John Longmire said while Rohan's hamstring strain isn't severe, he will still miss at least 3-4 games.

"It's disappointing for him, but I'm sure he's got some confidence out of the type of footy he's been able to play over the last few weeks," Longmire said.

"He's been able to put some pressure on the opposition and be good with the ball as well, so I'm sure he's confident he'll be able to play at that level when he gets back."

Experienced defender Ted Richards remains a chance to face the Brisbane Lions on Sunday despite being knocked out in a tackle laid by Power forward Jay Schulz last week.

Longmire said that the 32-year-old had recovered well but no decision will be made on his availability until later in the week.

"That'll be completely left in the doctor's hands, but all we can look on is today, and he feels really good today, so we'll see how the week goes," Longmire said.

The Swans will have two definite inclusions for the Lions clash, with suspended duo Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett ready to resume after missing the Port win.

With their two best key forwards back, the Swans will switch Sam Reid back into defence. Longmire said it was pleasing to see him embracing his role as the team's swingman.

"We'll play him where we need him," Longmire said. 

"His first half on the weekend was very good. We've played him throughout a number of positions this year and he's adapted to all of those, so we've been really happy with his flexibility."

In further good news for the Swans, young star Isaac Heeney came through his return game in the NEAFL last week unscathed, and should be available to play a full game of reserves this week.

Heeney hasn't played senior footy since suffering a knee injury in round six against Melbourne at the MCG.

The Swans are also hopeful that experienced pair Ben McGlynn (hamstring) and Craig Bird (shoulder) will be fit to play in the twos.
