WEST Coast key defender Jeremy McGovern has signed a two-year contract extension that will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2018 season.
McGovern, 23, was already contracted for next season but has agreed to add another two years to continue his meteoric rise under Eagles coach Adam Simpson.
He had not played an AFL game before Simpson arrived after being drafted with pick No.44 in the 2011 NAB AFL draft.

He was then asked to train away from the main group for period of time in Simpson's first pre-season as coach after failing to meet minimum fitness standards on the first day of the 2014 pre-season.
Since then he has been a revelation, played 13 matches and kicking 13 goals last year as a swingman.
This season, in the absence of key defenders Eric Mackenzie and Mitch Brown, he has stood tall in the Eagles' undermanned and experienced defence and earned a nomination in the All Australian 40-man squad for his performances across just 17 home and away games.
He was struck down with multiple hamstring injuries and a shoulder problem late in the year.
He is still carrying the issue with his left AC joint but will be fine for the preliminary final against North Melbourne on Saturday night despite being managed at training over the past two weeks.
McGovern told said his body was in good shape after the week off.
"It's really good," he told the club's website.
"The body in general feels good. The week off helped, I think there was a lot of sore boys.
"But I've definitely enjoyed the week off and got my body right. It's definitely feeling a lot better than it has been."
